Exploring Oklahoma one weekend at a time
This weekend, we went to Swan Dairy in Claremore, Ok. We had come a few weeks ago, and my Husband and son are hooked on the cheese curds. They have both Hot Pepper and Cheddar curds. Curds are sometimes referred to as “squeaky cheese”, and while the name might sound a little funny, they are delicious and definitely deserve a taste. Swan’s also sells heavy cream, milk (skim, 2%, whole) and cheddar and other cheeses. There really isn’t much to see at the dairy since the cows all roam free in the pastures behind the dairy, although they do have a window so you can see the cows getting milked, which is pretty interesting. It’s worth the drive though to come out and see where milk comes from, and the milk and cheese are very yummy. There is no website for Swan Dairy, but they are located at 938 E 5th St Claremore, OK 74017 (if coming from Tulsa, it’s right off the Will Rogers Turnpike)
While we were in Claremore, we took a second to drive through the campus of Rogers State University. The school was built in 1909, and the buildings are beautiful.
Of course, we found a playground and let P run around for a little bit to burn some energy.
Until our next adventure.
