Exploring Oklahoma one weekend at a time

Tulsa Drillers – Tulsa County

When I was around 4 years old my parents decided to try taking me to a baseball game at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles. They thought that I wouldn’t last very long, but boy were they wrong. I loved watching baseball, and I really loved eating hotdogs, peanuts and ice cream. Since then I have always loved going to baseball games. When we lived in California, we went to San Francisco Giants games at least once a month during baseball season. Naturally, since the weather is starting to get nice (although we have had such a mild winter) we decided to go check out the Tulsa Drillers Stadium, OneOk Field.

The Tulsa Drillers Open House at OneOK Field was held March 9th. It was a little drizzly, but we had a fun time. We were able to walk all around the park, even through the suites. P loved having so much room to run around, and the playground was nice too.  The field is beautiful, and it’s located right in downtown Tulsa, so very convenient to get to.

I can’t wait to go back when baseball season starts. Friday April 11 is opening day for 2013! Grass seats are only $5 and kids eat free on Sundays, such a great deal, especially when the weather is nice.

 El Rio Verde

After walking around the field, we headed to El Rio Verde which is just one freeway exit up from the field. The food here is so good, very authentic Mexican food. I had the tortilla soup and a chicken taco, and both were delicious. If you are near downtown, I would highly recommend El Rio Verde.

Until our next adventure.
